Sustainability and environmental advisory

Sustainability and ESG
Reporting Services in NSW

Proportionate support for organisations that need to understand, organise, and report environmental and sustainability information, with environmental advice grounded in ESEA's first-hand ecology and field data where relevant.

Sustainability and ESG advisory, scoped to what you need.

ESEA's sustainability advisory service helps developers, government bodies, education organisations, and businesses in NSW understand what they need to report, what information they already hold, where the gaps are, and what a proportionate scope looks like

Services include sustainability reporting scoping, environmental data organisation and gap analysis, ESG advisory support, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment scoping, Environmental and Social Management Plans, Community Needs Assessments, and independent technical review of sustainability documentation.

WHY THIS MATTERS NOW

The reporting landscape in Australia

Mandatory climate-related financial disclosure is being phased in for Australian entities that meet the Corporations Act reporting thresholds, with Group 1 reporting periods beginning from 1 January 2025, Group 2 from 1 July 2026, and Group 3 from 1 July 2027.

Most small and medium organisations are not directly captured, but reporting entities may request information from businesses in their value chains. Tenders, lenders, and customers may also ask for environmental or sustainability information outside the mandatory regime.

The practical challenge is often understanding what information already exists, what is missing, and what level of reporting is proportionate to the audience and purpose.

HOW WE WORK

Our approach to sustainability reporting

We begin by establishing why the report or plan is needed, who will read it, and what decisions it has to support, because that determines the scope more than any framework does.

We then review the information the organisation already holds, identify what is missing, and recommend a scope proportionate to the purpose. Where ecological or biodiversity information is relevant, ESEA can draw on its own assessment and field survey work rather than relying only on secondary data.

Where a commission needs specialist reporting-standard expertise, financial reporting advice, or independent assurance beyond our team, we identify that at the outset and scope accordingly.

Every commission is managed by an experienced Senior Consultant from commencement through to completion, with Director-level review providing an additional layer of technical and strategic oversight, and we work to clear timelines so the reporting or planning work supports the project rather than holding it up.
